About

Pajarito Riding Club was incorporated as a non-profit organization on November 9, 1964. Our Club was formed to further interest in horses, encourage youth and connect horse owners for fun activities such as trail riding, shows and social events as well as offer shared access to equestrian facilities, volunteer area maintenance activities, decision making, area laws, and education/training.

On May 25, 1967 an agreement was made between PAHOA and the Pajaritan Riding Club, Inc. to lease an area within the Pajarito Community Area to establish a riding arena for members of the riding club.  An addendum to the lease was notarized and recorded on May 28, 1975 listing additional land leased by the riding club.  The round pen now occupies this area.  In 2003 a new agreement with PAHOA was signed.

Pajarito Riding Club is located in White Rock, a sub-section of Los Alamos.  White Rock (specifically the La Senda and Pajarito Acres residential zones) is the only area of Los Alamos where citizens can have barns and livestock directly on their residential property.  At the time White Rock was planned, trail easements for Horse Riding were established and are maintained currently.

We have a unique treasure in this area for Horse trail riding, not only because of the open trail system, but also because White Rock is surrounded on one side by the beautiful Rio Grande River Canyon and on the other side by extensive federally-managed government land which itself has extensive recreational trails open to horse riders as well as mountain bikers and hikers.

Use of the arena and round pen are for members only.  Membership fees pay for insurance and maintenance of the area.  Sand has been put in the arena to assure year-round riding.  The club has held work parties at the arena and also has helped maintain the PAHOA trails throughout Pajarito Acres.  Club activities in the past have included Pony Club and 4-H sponsored events, lessons, gymkhanas, small horse shows, breakfast and moonlight rides.

Our club has a once a year party for all members as well as regular meetings and activities.  We welcome you to join us to make new friends and riding partners.  For more information, go to our JOIN US page.
